The probable reason for this is that Sony has marked the device as not having a light sensor. If you have a Dropbox account let me know the e-mail you use and I'll let you try a private build of Lux.

Camera mode should still give you a 'luma' reading on the Dashboard. I did find some other camera related bugs I need to fix though!

Hi Vito,

yes, before I got it 'fixed', it immediately crashed when I entered the sample editor. On the Lux screen I still can see 'reading' ..., which is a little bit strange, because I've switched the sampling mode to camera.

Fixed the crash be switching the sampe mode from camera to automatic and then back to camera! Strange!

I'm guessing you're the user who reported the crashes? If so, I'm already working on a fix. Does it crash as soon as you open the sample editor? If not, it'd be a great help if you could give me exact steps to reproduce the bug. Thanks!

Entering the sample editor the app V0.20 always crashes! The strange thing is, the brightness adjustment seems to work flawless. Sample data of the previous version has been deleted.

Hi I´ve Just bought your Lux (auto brightness) aplication from Market. It works quit well. But I found one really anoying thing on my SGS2, it parmanently flashes proximity senzor when Check is sensor cevered option is ticked.

Hey Sergei,

Data filtering works differently now. It's supposed to be instantaneous, because instead of filtering when you press refresh, it will constantly collect light data, and then when you refresh it will quickly analyse that data and return a value. Previously Lux had to wait to collect that data, but that's no longer the case.

Naturally, this new approach is faster than before.

May I suggest that you reset the settings, and try with the defaults? The longer the filter window, the smoother Lux is. However, it also means it'll take longer to react to changes in brightness (because the older values still carry some weight during calculation).

Let me know how that goes.

Sorry to say, but data filtering has stopped working properly on my Desire S with this release. Most taps on the widget the value is returned instantly as if no filtering was selected; every now and than it does actually wait the set amount of milliseconds, but in those cases it sets the brightness value completely out of the range - in my case, much higher than expected. E.g. when without filtering I get 37%, with filtering I get about 83%. I wanted to look at the lux values, but I can't - with dashboard running, I can't get it to filter at all - value is always returned instantaneously!

In early versions, the ambient light values returned also used to differ depending on whether you use filtering and the size of a window. The bigger window - the higher lux values you got, so I had to recalibrate when I played with different window sizes. It was a hassle, but at least it was predictable - you got consistant values until you change filtering. Now one time it filters, the next time it does not, which makes the filtering feature unusable for me.

In the version before current this glitch was fixed, i.e. values retuned with filtering were in the same range as without, just smoother. This was a very welcome fix, unfortunately, with 0.20 the glitch seems to be reintroduced in a worse way...

Hope it makes sense.

I'm currently working on a way to edit linked samples. I'm just a little busy with uni this week. Hopefully v0.20 has this functionality.
